The demand for the wooden combs produced by this artisanal company is growing, as is mail-order business, making a new building with office, shipping, and presentation rooms necessary.
Although the building, with its flat roof, does not formally draw on rural building types, it harmoniously blends into the village environment and clearly indicates its purpose as a production facility.
All buildings are made from solid wood products.
The exterior walls are insulated with wood fiber boards and clad with a silver fir facade.
Even the wood panels cut from the walls of the window openings are used as workbenches in the operation.
The jury commends the understated approach to the townscape and wishes there were more commercial buildings in rural areas that exhibit such high design quality.
